Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle Cases aren't as easy as they seem.
There are different facts that the lawyer must know about in order to properly evaluate the evidence and the circumstances of any contested accident.
This means an excellent understanding of the velocity vectors, lean angles, acceleration and deceleration ,driver to motorcycle visibility and awareness, stopping times and distances, helmet laws and many other facts and laws are part of your case. Your lawyer may want to work directly alongside an accident reconstruction expert such as a retired traffic homicide investigator, engineer or other expert specialist.
Mr. Leeds has represented hundreds of motorcycle accident victims during his 28 years as a personal injury lawyer. Each case is individually prepared and investigated to obtain the most favorable possible result. Among the cases Mr. Leeds has handled are cases where the liability circumstances and injuries included:
• A motorcycle policeman was hit and killed by a drunk driver.
• An elderly man driving a vehicle with expired tag rear ended a motorcycle while at a stop light— broken forearms and concussion.
• A motorcyclist on a Hond GoldWing hit a slick area of pavement due to standing water which had not been drained by a road making construction company, resulting in massive road rash and disfigurement.
• An auto (many like this) ran a stop sign, hitting the motorcyclist resulting in multiple fractures. The bike was a Ninja. The motorist claimed he did not run the stop sign, but the physical evidence of skid marks proved otherwise.
• A car attempted to make a U turn, striking the motorcyclist resulting in two knee surgeries and a knee reconstruction. The accident happened while on a Harley.
• A Harley Davidson rider was forced to leap off his motorcycle while trying to avoid a car backing up a parking lot, resulting in injuries to a pre existing back condition.
Mr. Leeds is also interested in cases where the motorcycle has a defective tire, a blow-out of a tire, or any other product defect to a bike which has resulted in serious injury. In such cases, be sure to keep the evidence! In most cases, Mr. Leeds can arrange for the storage of any motorcycle where there is a substantial question about whether or not the motorcycle needs to be preserved as evidence of how the accident happened.
